We just got her today. Her belly and and hind quarters are bald and have like baby fine hair. She ap;pears to have extremely dry skin and I am concerned. We got her free from my daughters friend and I hope she is healthy. She eats and is active but her skin concerns me, please somone tell me about their skin and fur?I just got a coonhound puppy I need to know skin care.?
This is not a breed issue, you need to have this puppy examined. What you're describing could be early stages of mange or skin mites, which only your veterinarian can diagnose and treat. Please have her looked at, you've nothing to lose.
Other options include fleas and flea allergies, bacterial skin infection, and allergies.I just got a coonhound puppy I need to know skin care.?
Before you treat her, you need to have the vet check her to be sure it's not some form of mange. Plus, she needs to have her shots %26amp; get started on heartworm preventative. If it's not mange or some other type of mite infestation, you can try a shampoo that's oatmeal or tea tree oil based. Also, a good quality food will help.
Enjoy your new pup. After you get the initial stuff taken care of %26amp; she's spayed (at 6 months old), you'll have a great new addition to your family.
